Title work runs separately, through Land Titles North (Edmonton) — Red Deer sits north of the Township 34 district line, which surprises most people. Land Titles has been slow since the counters closed to walk-ins in September 2025, with registrations reported taking around a hundred days, so build that into any plan with a deadline in it.
A little about Lacombe
A city about 25 km north of Red Deer in Lacombe County, built on agriculture, oil and gas, and agricultural research — the Lacombe Research and Development Centre works on field crops and livestock production for central Alberta. The population is about 13,396.
The Lacombe hog, developed here over a twelve-year programme from 1947, was the first livestock breed created in Canada. Irene Parlby, one of the Famous Five, lived in the area. It is a town with deep agricultural roots, and agricultural income moves with harvests and commodity prices rather than with anything a household controls.

What actually happens
Less than people fear. Much of a foreclosure is documents rather than hearings, and an undefended claim moves through its stages without anyone standing up in a courtroom. That is also the risk — the process advances whether or not you engage, so engaging is how you keep a say in it.
